Development of a Digital Strategy

The guiding principle for your digital transformation: clearly prioritized, consistently implementable.

Digital projects are underway, budgets are being spent, tools are being introduced. But at the end of the year, one question remains: What has all of this actually achieved? Many companies pursue digitalization through isolated initiatives, without a clear common direction. The result: investments fail to deliver, teams move in different directions, and digital transformation fails to gain momentum despite significant effort. What is missing is a strategic framework that aligns all digital initiatives toward a shared goal and ensures that every euro and every hour contributes to business success.

Solution Approach

Your company does not need another technology trend, but a clear plan. Our Digital Strategy Development gives you exactly that: a tailored, implementation-oriented strategy that consistently aligns digital initiatives with your business goals. At the core of our approach is our Digital Excellence (DX) Framework with its five core areas: Strategy, Customer, Product & Service, Data & Technology, and Organization & Processes. Along these dimensions, we systematically analyze your business model, market environment, and existing digital initiatives. Based on this, we develop a digital target state, identify the relevant fields of action for each core area, and translate them into a Digital Strategy. The most important initiatives are prioritized based on business impact, feasibility, and time-to-value and consolidated into a Digital Roadmap (1–3 years). The result is not a strategy paper that ends up in a drawer, but a living roadmap for real impact.

Benefits

  • Strategic clarity instead of reactive action: All digital initiatives are consistently aligned with your business goals. Resources are allocated where they create the greatest impact.
  • Holistic view across all dimensions: The five core areas of the DX Framework ensure that no relevant aspect of the transformation is overlooked.
  • Shared understanding for all stakeholders: Management, business units, and IT speak the same language and work toward the same target state.
  • Implementation focus from day one: Prioritized initiatives and a concrete roadmap ensure that strategy translates into impact.

Approach

  1. Kick-off & Strategic Framework: Together, we define the objectives, scope, and time horizon. We identify the relevant stakeholders and create a shared understanding of expectations and ambition level.
  2. Deep Dive into Corporate Strategy & Business Model: We analyze your core corporate strategy and model the target digital business model. This creates the strategic foundation from which the digital strategy is logically derived.
  3. Current-State Analysis Along the 5 Core Areas of the DX Framework: We systematically assess the current state and identify potential in each core area: Strategy (digital ambition, business model innovation), Customer(customer profiles, customer experience, touchpoints), Product & Service (digital offerings, value creation), Data & Technology (IT architecture, data management, AI), and Organization & Processes (structures, culture, efficiency).
  4. Define Digital Target State & Fields of Action: We formulate a clear target state (3–5 years) and derive the key digital fields of action for each core area that will move your company forward.
  5. Develop the Digital Strategy: For each field of action, we define concrete digital initiatives and visualize them in a clear Strategy Map. Relationships and dependencies become visible at a glance.
  6. Prioritization & Digital Roadmap: We assess all initiatives based on business impact, feasibility, and time-to-value, prioritize them in a matrix, and translate the top initiatives into an implementation-oriented roadmap (1–3 years).

Deliverables

  • Digital Strategy Scope: Documented objectives, scope, and time horizon as a clear foundation for the entire strategy development process.

  • Digital Roadmap (1–3 years): Prioritized initiatives assessed by business impact, feasibility, and time-to-value, consolidated into a concrete implementation roadmap.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you have questions? We have the answers.

Do we need a digital strategy if we already have a corporate strategy?

Yes, because a corporate strategy defines the “where,” but rarely the digital “how.” A digital strategy translates your business goals into concrete digital initiatives, prioritizes them, and ensures that technology, data, and processes are aligned with your strategic priorities instead of operating in isolation.

What differentiates your approach from traditional strategy consultancies?

We do not deliver 200-page decks that end up in a drawer. Our DX Framework structures the analysis around five proven core areas and leads directly to an actionable roadmap. The focus is on time-to-value: you receive prioritized initiatives that can be acted on immediately, rather than abstract recommendations without a clear path to implementation.

How involved do our internal teams need to be in the process?

We need access to 3–5 key people from management, business units, and IT for a total of 2–3 workshop days. We take care of the preparation and follow-up. The better we understand your company, the more precise the strategy will be, which is why involvement is not overhead but a key driver of quality.

Can we develop the digital strategy for just one part of the organization?

Absolutely. We define the scope together during the kick-off. Whether you need a strategy for the entire company, a single business unit, or a specific dimension (e.g. Data & Technology only), the approach scales flexibly to your needs.

What happens after the strategy has been developed – what comes next?

The roadmap is designed so that you can move directly into implementation. If desired, we can also support you in launching the top initiatives, setting up a transformation structure, or developing detailed plans for individual fields of action. The strategy is the starting point, not the end.
